Last weekend, I was physically attacked by one of my immediate next-door neighbours, who decided to punch me multiple times in the back of the head, and started to strangle me — whether in the intention of killing me or not, I can only guess. (I have not discussed the matter with him since, and I am sleeping on a friend’s balcony)

What struck me, and frankly surprised me, was that during this attack, when I was quite unable to breathe, having prayed to God and the Virgin, I had no fear nor anger in the face of this possible death, but just a simple kind of curiosity, thinking “Will I die now ?” …

… I’m rather glad I didn’t, and I rather hope that you others are as well.

Ave Maria, gratia plena
Dominus tecum benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus fructus ventris tui Jesus
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
Ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
Nunc et in hora mortis nostrae
